Change preparation days or the selection type for certain products | Otodoke Help

Made-to-order products need more time, subscriptions only need a day of the week, and letter mail can't have a delivery date. You can set these differences with product tags.

Set them in the app under Delivery settings → Per-product settings.

Settings by tag

  1. In your Shopify admin, add a tag to the products (for example, made-to-order).
  2. Open Delivery settings in the app and select **Add tag** under Per-product settings.
  3. Enter the tag exactly as it appears on the product, including uppercase and lowercase letters.
  4. Set **Preparation days**, **Selection type**, or both.
  5. Select **Save**.

| Field | What it does | |---|---| | Preparation days | The preparation days when a product with this tag is in the cart. The longest of the default and any matching tags is used. Leave it empty to keep the default. | | Selection type | What customers choose when a product with this tag is in the cart: date and time slot, date only, day of the week only, time slot only, or no date selection. **No change** keeps the store's selection type. |

You can register up to 20 tags in total.

The "no date selection" tag

The tag 日時指定不可 is registered from the start. Add this tag to a product, and carts that include it show a notice instead of the picker. Checkout is not blocked, even when a delivery date is required.

If you don't use this tag, delete it from the table and save.

When products with different tags are in the same cart

The settings apply to the whole cart.

  • Preparation days: the longest is used.
  • Selection type: the tag with the smaller priority number (higher in the table) is used. Reorder with the arrows in the table.
  • If any product has a "no date selection" tag, the whole cart has no date selection.

Set days per product (metafield)

To set preparation days per product with a number instead of a tag, use a product metafield.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Metafields and metaobjects → Products and add a definition. Use the namespace and key custom.prep_days and the type **Integer**.
  2. Enter the preparation days on the product page.
  3. In the app's Delivery settings, turn on **Use a product metafield as the preparation days** and save.

Products with a value use it instead of the default preparation days. When the cart has several products, the longest applies.

Good to know

  • The settings apply to both the cart picker and checkout validation.
  • After you add or remove a tag, it can take a moment to take effect.
  • Switch **Products in the cart** in the delivery date preview to check the available dates for a tag before you save.
